The Learners’ Access setting of enabling access to specific learners makes a wide range of automations possible. Our integrations with Zapier & Make help Mini Course Generator to be combined with many applications to create automations which will simplify your life.

Here are some automation ideas for different use-cases:

Enrich training or workshops

  • Deliver a warm-up mini course when a new learner registers to webinar or meeting. For instance:

Choose Zoom as your application. Select “New participant joined your webinar or meeting” as your event and complete trigger settings.

Add another step to your Zap and select Mini Course Generator as your application. Your event should be “Add Learner”. Pick your collection, set “True” for send email setting. Finally, bring up email information from Zoom.

Using this automation, you can share your collection with your learners when they join your live session. This way, you will warm up your learners with a mini-course before a live training and boost engagement.

  • When the webinar ends, deliver a reinforcement mini-course to learners. For instance:

Choose Livestorm as your application. Pick the event “Session ended”. Complete your trigger settings.

Add another step to your Zap and select Mini Course Generator as your app. Your event should be “Add Learner”. Pick your collection, set “True” for send email setting. Finally, bring up email information from Livestorm.

Share your collection as a reinforcement after a webinar to solidify learning. The automation will deliver your collection to your learners when your live training ends.

Onboard customers or employees

  • When a meeting is set, send a mini-course. For instance:

Choose Calendly as your application and pick the event “Invitee Created in Calendly”. Complete your trigger settings.

Add a second step to your Zap and choose Mini Course Generator as your application. Pick the event “Add Learner”. Choose your collection of mini-courses, set “True” for send email setting. Bring up email information from Calendly.

Send a pre-meeting mini-course to set clear expectations for the upcoming discussion and lead to more focused and productive meetings.

  • When a new employee starts, send an onboarding mini-course. For instance:

Select BambooHR for application and “New Employee Started” for event.

Add a second step to your Zap, pick Mini Course Generator for app and “Add Learner” for event. Choose the collection you use as your onboarding material and set “True” for send email. Take the email information from BambooHR.

Use an onboarding mini-course to ensure a smooth transition into your workplace. Provide essential information up-front to empower your new hires and help them become productive quickly.

Monetize your know-how

  • Add Paypal customers to your learner group.

Choose Paypal as your application and select the event “Successful Sale”.

Add a second step to the Zap and choose Mini Course Generator for application. Your event should be “Add Learner”. Choose the correct collection and opt for “True” at sending email to user. Finally, bring up email address information from Paypal.

  • Add Shopify customers to your learner group.

Choose Shopify as your application and select the event “New Paid Order”.

Add a second step to the Zap and choose Mini Course Generator for application. Your event should be “Add Learner”. Choose the correct collection and opt for “True” at sending email to user. Finally, bring up email address information from Shopify.

After setting up these automations, when someone places an order for your content they will be added to your learner group automatically and informed via email. Your new learners can seamlessly and immediately access your mini-courses right after paying for it.

Set time limit for learners to complete their training

You can use Zapier to time-limit your learners’ access to your collection. Here’s how:

    1. Choose Mini Course Generator as your trigger application and select your collection.
    2. Add a delay as your action for however long you want.
    3. Choose Mini Course Generator again for your third step of the Zap. Choose remove learner for your event.

This automation will allow you to put a time limit for your learners to access and complete the collection. The moment they are added to the learner group, their time starts and when their time is up, they are removed from your learner group.

How to build your own automation

Besides the ideas we’ve shared, you can connect Mini Course Generator with a wide range of applications and events available on Zapier & Make. Create an automation tailored to your needs by logging in to your Zapier or Make account at our automations page.

Providing certificates can be a game-changer for learner motivation and engagement. Using Mini Course Generator’s integration with automation tools Zapier or Make, it is possible to connect with certificate maker applications such as Sertifier, Certifier, Certopus and many more. Furthermore, you can decide on which scenarios to issue digital certificates to learners such as:

  • completing a mini-course
  • completing a collection of mini-courses
  • earning a mini course score above the success threshold
  • earning a collection score above the success threshold

For an even quicker and simpler way to issue certificates, check the built-in Certification feature of Mini Course Generator!

Issue Certificates after Completion of a Mini Course

See below how to connect Mini Course Generator & Certopus with Make to issue certificates after micro learning completion.

  • After signing in to Make, create a new automation and select Mini Course Generator as first application.

To issue certificates for completion of a single mini-course, choose the event “Watch Course Completed”.

To issue certificates for completion of a collection (group of mini-courses), choose the event “Watch Course Collection Completed”.

Screenshot of Make's building a scenario screen. Triggers and actions available with Mini Course Generator is listed.

  • Connect Mini Course Generator account and choose related mini-course or collection to issue certificates for.

  • Add a second step to the scenario. Choose Certopus as the application and “Create a Credential” for the event.

After connecting Certopus account to Make, pick the related organisation, event and category you have already created in Certopus, drag and drop email address and name data from Mini Course Generator. Choose “Yes” for generating and publishing credential.

Automation settings to choose to issue certificates via Certopus when a mini course is completed.

  • Turn on your Scenario.

After turning on the scenario, the automation is ready to go! When learners complete their micro learning they will be issued a certificate instantly, without the hassle of issuing the certificate yourself.

Issue Certificates to Learners above the Success Threshold

See below how to connect Mini Course Generator & Certifier with Zapier to issue certificates when learners are above the success threshold.

🔹 This automation will only work if the mini-course/collection includes a quiz.

  • Create the same automation flow as explained in the previous section.

  • Add a step in-between. Select “Filter by Zapier” for this second step of automation. For the sake of this article, we’d like to issue certificates to learners who have a score higher than 80% in the mini-course or collection. To realize this, fill out the filter details as “Only continue if score (number) greater than 80”.

Automation settings to choose to issue certificates via Certifier when a learner completes a mini course with a score above the success threshold.

  • Publish your automation.

Great! You just made your micro learning content even more valuable by assessing your learners and issuing a certificate for their success. Not to mention that the process is automated, with no need to issue certificates one by one.

👀 See How it Looks to Be Certified

Here’s how your learners get their certificate. They can share their certificate with others, add it to their LinkedIn profile, download it as a PDF document and more.

The email sent to learner when they are issued a certificate. The email leads to the issued certificate with verifiable details and sharing options.

Learners are more engaged than ever thanks to knowing they will receive tangible recognition for their efforts. Besides, learners who share their certificates are a great marketing tool and generate leads for your training content, so it’s a win-win situation!

Suppose you use your mini-course for lead generation, such as collecting contact information from your customers for e-mail marketing. If you want to add them to your mailing list when they complete a mini-course, this is for you.

It is possible for your customers to subscribe to your mailing list from your mini-course and you can automate this process by using tools like Zapier, Pipedream, etc. The principle behind these webhooks are essentially the same. We prepared example tutorials on Mailchimp and Mailerlite, as they are frequently used e-mail marketing platforms. Follow the links to learn more.

If you use your mini-course for lead generation, such as collecting contact information from your learners, or for any reason you want to know immediately when they complete a mini-course, this is for you.

Actually, Mini Course Generator provides an analytics report in .xls format for each of your mini-courses. This report includes all the answers your learners gave to each question in your mini-course.

You can download this report manually from the edit screen of your mini-course:

You can also download this report by clicking on the “Analytics” button of the mini-course on your admin dashboard.

However, suppose you would like to be notified immediately after someone finishes your mini-course, without manually downloading reports. If that is the use-case you’re looking for, follow the instructions below.

Go to your mini-course editor screen, and click on the settings icon.

Under advanced settings, turn on the “Notify by email when someone completes” toggle.

Whenever a learner completes your mini-course, you will receive an e-mail that contains their answers to your question cards, as shown below.

Note: If you definitely need an answer to a question, it is best to make giving a response to the question mandatory; so that your audience cannot proceed without answering that question. Click the settings icon located at the top right end of your question card, and make sure that giving a response is mandatory.

Note: If you have not got any mail at your inbox even though a learner completed your mini-course, make sure to check the spam/junk/promotions folders of your mail provider. If you received the notification e-mail to one of those folders, move the mail to your inbox so that future mails are not marked as spam.

Note: If you would like to customize the notification e-mails, you can construct this process manually by using Pipedream. Click here to learn more about this popular use case.

Dripping your micro-learning content to your learners easily transform the content you have into an educational program. Prevent overwhelming your learners, increase their engagement and knowledge retention by granting access to different collections or mini-courses periodically.

👀Learners’ Access settings work collection based, therefore dripping content has to be collection-based. If you would like to drip single mini-courses, make sure that the mini-courses you drip are the only mini-course in their collection.

Setting up Connections

Suppose that:

  • You have two collections named Collection A and Collection B.
  • You want your learners to gain access to Collection B one week later than they gain access to Collection A.

Here’s how to set this up:

First, you’ll need the enable access to specific learners feature turned on for both of your collections. This feature helps you to restrict the access exclusively to learners in your learner group and informs learners by sending them an invitation email when they are granted access.

💡 Check here for further information on this Learners’ Access setting and awesome features such as customizing your invitation email.

Then, using Zapier or Make integrations, you need to create an automation as follows:

First step of your automation should be Mini Course Generator triggering the automation when a new learner is added to Collection A.

Second step of your automation should be a delay waiting for 7 days before the next step.

🔹You can skip this step to instantly grant access to Collection B when Collection A is completed.

Third step of your automation should be adding a new learner to Collection B.

Make sure to:

    • choose “True” for sending email to user
    • collect email address and name data from Mini Course Generator

so that your learner receives invitation email for Collection B and the automation works properly.

💭 Invitation emails are for verification purposes only. The magic link included in the invitation email verifies the learner’s email address when clicked on and expires, therefore only allows access to the collection once. For your learners that won’t be able to complete the content in one sitting, or would like to revisit your content later on, make sure to share your content with your learners. For example, you can customize the invitation email to include the share link to your content in the email body.

Another use-case would be, suppose that you’re a life-coach, and you use a Discord server for your community. Or, you manage an Instagram account. With such use-cases, pinning the share link somewhere learners can access easily again and again, along with an announcement such as “access to new content” would be useful.

Great! Now your learners will be amazed on how organized and deep-thought your training is! You can adapt the automation to your needs and add as many steps as you’d like. Your micro-learning content really be drippin’ after this. 😎

Mini Course Generator offers seamless content sales processes through its pay-wall integrations. However, it is also possible to use other points of sale, such as Shopify. You can use Make to automate giving access to a new learner who purchased your content through Shopify.

Make is an automation tool which helps you build scenarios that connect apps together. In this case, we will use Make to connect Shopify and Mini Course Generator. Currently, Make offers a free plan which allows up to 1000 operations per month. For further details, please check their website.

To realize this automation, you need the “Enable access to specific learners” feature. This feature allows your content to be reached exclusively by a specific learner group, or multiple learner groups. Please check our article on this feature for further details.

Build your Automation

  • Change your collection’s Learners’ Access setting to “Enable access to specific learners”.

Automation tools can only collect data from collections which use access settings other than “Everyone can access”. Therefore, before starting to build your automation, change your learners’ access setting.

🔹 Learner data which comes from an automation tool is added to a separate learner group specific to the automation tool and collection. After setting up your automation, check your learner groups and add the new learner group created.

  • On your Make dashboard, click on “Create a new scenario” button on top right end.

  • First module is what triggers your automation. Choose Shopify for application and “Watch Orders” for the event.

  • Provide your myshopify.com subdomain to connect your Shopify account with Make. For example, if your Shopify store is on xyz.myshopify.com, enter only “xyz”. Then, click on save to proceed.

  • Complete your trigger settings. For the sake of this article, we’d like to give access to our collection when the transaction is complete, therefore we will choose “Paid” for financial status.

The number of Shopify orders checked per automation scenario is set to 2 by default. You can increase this by changing the “Limit” if you’d like.

When you’re done configuring your trigger, click on OK and move to the next step.

  • Click on the plus icon as shown in the image below to add another module.

  • Choose Mini Course Generator for application and “Add Learner” for the event of your second module.

  • Choose which Mini Course Generator account to use from your list of connections, or click on “Add” to create a new connection. Enter your email address and password credentials of your MCG account to add a new connection.

  • Complete your action settings.

If you choose “Yes” for “Send Email” option, the learner receives an invitation email at their email address when the automation scenario works.

If you choose “No” for “Send Email”, the learner receives the invitation email when they first interact with your content.

Invitation emails are for verification purposes only. The magic link included in the invitation email verifies the learner’s email address when clicked on, directs the learner to the content and expires, therefore only allows access to the collection once. Unverified email addresses cannot access your collection of mini courses, ensuring that your content can be reached exclusively by your learner group.

For your learners that won’t be able to complete the content in one sitting, or would like to revisit your content later on, make sure to share your content with your learners. For example, you can customize the invitation email to include the share link to your content in the email body. Other solutions would be embedding the collection in a webpage, or pinning the share link where your learners can reach again and again.

💡You can customize and translate the invitation email to languages other than English. Please check our article “Enable access to specific learners” for further details.

Collect “Name” and “Email” data from Shopify. You can find the correct data to collect under “Customer” menu in the pop-up, as shown in the GIF below.

👀 Put a space in between your “customer_first_name” and “customer_last_name” data. Otherwise, your new learner’s name will be as such: “FirstnameLastname”.

Choose the collection to give access to your new learner, and any mini course in that collection. When you’re done, click on OK.

  • At the bottom left of your scenario, you can set how often your automation repeats. When you’re done, click on “Run once” to test your automation, and turn your automation on by clicking on the toggle.

Great, from now on your Shopify customers will seamlessly access your collection of mini-courses!
