Thanks to White label emailing, you can send your invitation and verification emails from your own domain, rather than no-reply@minicoursegenerator.com.

This allows your emails to reflect your brand and identity, appearing as if they originate directly from you.

We offer integration with three different third-party platforms for this configuration: SendGrid, MailChimp, and MailerSend.

Below, you can find articles from third-party platforms that offer additional information about the configuration process.

We use SendGrid for demonstration purposes on the article.

ℹ SendGrid is free for two months and allows you to send up to 100 emails per day: https://sendgrid.com/en-us/pricing

Step 1: Connect your domain to SendGrid

Go to app.sendgrid.com and create an account. After that, navigate to Sender Authentication in the settings.

Scroll down to the Link Branding section. Then, click the Get Started button.

Select your DNS host from the list.

ℹ You can select Other if your domain provider isn’t listed.

Enter the domain you want to use for white labeling your emails. For example: minicoursegenerator.com

ℹ Ensure that you only enter the root domain name. Do not include www or http://www in this field.

Add all of the CNAME records to your DNS host’s settings.

ℹ The process varies depending on your specific DNS host. Consult your host’s documentation for detailed instructions on managing their interface.

Step 2: Get your API Key and bring to Mini Course Generator

Navigate to API Keys in the settings and click the Create API Key button.

Give your API Key a name and copy it.

Navigate to the Settings for your collection on your Mini Course Generator. Then, go to the White label email tab and activate it.

💡 You can configure white label email for multiple collections using the same API Key and domain.

⚠ If you activate white label email functionality without proper configuration, invitation and verification emails will not be sent to your learners.

You must either deactivate or configure it correctly for emails to be delivered.

Paste your API Key, and then specify your Sending domain and Sender name. Finally, click the Save Settings button.

ℹ Sending domain should include the domain you connected with SendGrid.

🎊 Congrats, you’ve successfully configured your white label email.

From now on, all your invitation and verification emails will be sent from your Sending domain.

❓ Please reach out us via Messenger on bottom right if you have any question about White label email.

If you own a domain, you can customize your mini-course and collection share links by adding custom domains to your account. This feature enables you to share mini-courses or collections using a sub-domain or the domain of your website.

How to add custom domains?

The process has three main steps:

  1. Get the CNAME address from Mini Course Generator (custom.minicoursegenerator.com),
  2. Redirect your sub-domain or domain to custom.minicoursegenerator.com using CNAME option in your hosting provider settings,
  3. Add the redirected sub-domain or domain to your Mini Course Generator account and start using it for your mini-course or collection.

Let’s get started.

  • On your admin dashboard, click on “Custom Domain” at the top of the page.

  • In the custom domain page, you will see the Mini Course Generator CNAME address provided. Copy the CNAME address and go to your hosting provider settings.

  • In your DNS settings, choose CNAME as the DNS record type, choose a sub-domain name or use your domain, and direct it to “custom.minicoursegenerator.com”.

Although the interfaces may change for different hosting providers, the logic behind the process is the same. You can see an exemplary video below: adding CNAME redirection to DNS records on GoDaddy.

In the example above, the sub-domain is defined as “academy”, but you can give a different name. Proceeding with this name, your mini-course/collection URL would look like this:

academy.yourdomain.com/…

💬You can also name your subdomain “www” for your collection or mini-course homepage to be www.yourdomain.com/…

  • After adding the CNAME redirection to your DNS records, return to Mini Course Generator and add your custom domain in the space provided.

You need to choose a default mini-course or collection for the custom domain added. The mini-course or collection you chose will have exactly the same link: academy.yourdomain.com.

In other words, the link academy.yourdomain.com will directly lead to a specific mini-course or a collection that you have defined as the default for this custom domain.

  • Once you set the default mini-course or collection for your custom domain to direct to, click on “Add Domain”, and your verification process starts.

We will review your request and inform you via e-mail when the verification is completed. This may take up to 24 hours, but it usually takes less than this.

💡Note: It is also possible to use a custom domain for mini-courses or collections other than the default one. To do that, you need to modify the share link of your mini-course or collection manually. Suppose that your mini-course has the following share link:

share.minicoursegenerator.com/leveling-up-progressing-in-your-yoga-journey-638521343109591388

The bold part of the link is the slug, and acts as the ID of your mini-course. You can use this ID with the custom domain you added. Just copy this part and paste it to the end your custom domain like this:

academy.yourdomain.com/leveling-up-progressing-in-your-yoga-journey-638521343109591388

Now that you’ve customized your share links, it’s time to share your content.

Custom Domain FAQ & Troubleshooting

Can I add my domain directly instead of a subdomain?

Yes, you can connect your domain directly.

When setting up a CNAME record with your domain provider, enter www in the name field.

After this step, the configuration process may vary depending on your domain provider.

For detailed instructions, search for “Forwarding Domain” in your provider’s help center. In this article, we provide examples for GoDaddy and Cloudflare.

1) GoDaddy

  1. Click on your domain to open the Domain Settings page.
  2. Select DNS and then select Forwarding.
  3. Select Add Forwarding.
  4. Choose http:// or https:// for the destination URL.
  5. Enter the destination URL where your domain will forward. It should match your domain exactly. For example, www.yourdomain.com.
  6. Choose the forwarding type as Permanent (301).
  7. Click Save to apply your new forwarding settings.

2) Cloudflare

  1. Go to Rules > Overview.
  2. Select Create rule > Redirect Rule.
  3. Select Redirect from Root to WWW.
  4. Review your entries and click Deploy to save your changes.

In Mini Course Generator, make sure to enter your domain beginning with www. For example, use www.minicoursegenerator.com to complete the setup.

How many custom domains can I add to my account?

You can add as many custom domains as you’d like to your account. You can use different domains and sub-domains as well. Hence, you can create mini-course links that look like the following:

aa.yourdomain1.com/…
bb.yourdomain1.com/…

aa.yourdomain2.com/…
bb.yourdomain2.com/…

How can I change the mini-course or collection my subdomain redirects to?

Go to “Custom Domain”, click on the three dots at the right end of your domain, click on “Edit Domain”. You can change the default mini-course or collection there.

I just completed the process but the domain does not redirect to my mini-course/collection, why?

It may take up to 24 hours for your request to be verified. Please keep an eye on your email notifications as we inform you via email when the verification is completed.

It’s been more than 24 hours but my domain status is still stuck at pending verification!

If your CNAME redirection is still not verified 24 hours after requesting verification, it is highly probable that verification on your hosting provider’s end has not been completed. Unless CNAME is redirected to us, we cannot assist. To check whether your hosting provider verified your CNAME or not, take a look at our article here.

The CNAME lookup tool shows my DNS is not found. What do I do?

Check your DNS settings(type, name, value etc.) and make sure they are correct. If your settings are correct but the redirect is not working, please contact your hosting provider to find out what’s wrong.

If you’re using Cloudflare as your hosting provider, change your proxy status to DNS only as shown in the image below, then try again.

My custom domain status says it’s verified. However, it does not redirect to my mini-course/collection, what should I do?

Please contact us so we can check your case with our support team.

My CNAME redirect brings up a screen that says “Welcome to nginx!” instead of my mini-course/collection.

Please contact us so we can check your case with our support team.

We all know that content is the king. Yet, the way your mini-course looks is also a part of your communication and branding. In order to make mini-courses more coherent with your marketing needs, you can customize your mini-courses’ design with various options. These options include different card layouts, themes, fonts, font sizes, colored backgrounds and other choices related to appearance.

You can customize either an already existing mini course or create a new mini course from the beginning. Let’s see how easy it is!

Theme

On your mini-course editor screen, click on the “Theme” button, which is located on the upper right corner, to see features about layouts and customization.

Theme Settings

From Flat to Sprinkle, Mini Course Generator provides 23 different theme presets for you. These presets are fully designed with their font settings, color options, and various card & background options. The presets also have different options of color. For example, for Flat theme preset there are 6 color options. After you pick a color, you can preview each preset.

If you want to go back to the default looks of your mini-course, you can pick the Default theme which is located in the first place.

After you decide on a preset, you may leave it as it is or customize your mini-course design further by clicking on the “Edit Current Settings” button.

Theme presets are provided for your ease. Yet, not picking a theme preset at all is also an option. You can start customizing your mini-course directly by clicking on the “Edit Current Settings” button. These settings include several options regarding layout, fonts, backgrounds, card options, etc.

Card Layout

There are four different mini-course card layouts you can choose from. Each card layout has a different placement for the next card button and the progress bar. The choice you make will be valid for both computers and mobile devices, whether embedded in a webpage or not.

The difference between four layout options on computer is illustrated in the image below.

The first mini-course card layout comes with a navigation panel where the sequence of all cards in the mini-course can be seen at once, whereas other layouts do not.

Additionally, the default mini-course card layout includes a “related mini-courses” section, which shows other mini-courses in the same collection, at the end of each mini-course. However, other card layout options do not show the “related mini-courses” section.

Along with where the card is placed, the placement of the next card button, the progress bar and the social share button is changed with the layouts.

The difference between four layout options on mobile is illustrated respectively below.

In the first layout, your learners can use the button on top left to see or hide the navigation panel. The next card button is at the bottom of the page.

Depending on the length of content in your cards and the way you will share your mini-courses, you can go with the combination you like.

Find below the same mini-course in four different card layouts. Each of these mini-courses represent mini-course card layouts respectively.

First mini-course uses the default layout, which doesn’t allow changing card alignment or card stretch. Second, third and fourth mini-courses use the card layouts respectively. For these mini-courses, card vertical alignment is middle and card stretch is medium.

Click on the links below, both on computer and mobile, examine the performance yourself, and choose a layout for your mini-course accordingly.

Mini-course using default card layout

Mini-course using card layout 2

Mini-course using card layout 3

Card Vertical Alignment

Here you can choose whether your cards should be aligned at the top or middle of the page.

Note: This option is not present for the default card layout.

Find below the same mini-course card showcased in both alignment options.

Card Stretch

There are 3 options for card stretch: narrow, medium and wide. Narrow stretch is especially functional for mini-courses which are intended to be viewed on mobile devices in the first place.

Note: This option is not present for the default card layout.

Find below the same mini-course card showcased stretch options medium, narrow and wide respectively.

Font Settings

Change your mini-course’s font, font color, font size and line height.

Color Settings

You can choose different colors for your background, card background and buttons.

Background Image

If you prefer to have an image in your mini-course’s background, you can upload one using the background image section.

Note: This option is not present for the default card layout.

Some presets such as Circles and Rectangle Light include background images by default. You’re free to change these default background images. Click on the trash bin icon to delete the background image. After deleting it, you can upload a new one.

Mini Course Generator provides several ways to end a mini-course, some specialized for specific purposes. These card types can be found under the Completions menu when you add a new card to your mini-course.

The completion cards available are the Standard completion card, Conditional card, Score card, and Badge card.

You can find details about how to add and customize completion cards below.

How to use Conditional cards?

When to use conditional cards?

If you have included a quiz in your mini-course and you want to end your mini-course with a message depending on learners’ performance, conditional cards are for you.

Conditional cards help you filter and segment your audience by different communication needs. For example, you can personalize your messages for those who answered all the questions correctly and show another message to the rest of the group using conditional cards.

How to add conditional cards and customize the conditions?

Watch the video below for detailed information.

If you place any media in the header image section of your conditional card, the header image will show up for each and every condition. To show media specific to each condition, add your media in your condition’s customize your message section. As the customize your message section is an HTML editor, you can upload images, or embed other media using iframe codes. Check here for instructions on how to embed media in your card.

Depending on your need, you can add as many conditions as necessary and customize each message/image/CTA.

How to use Score cards?

When to use score cards?

If you have quiz questions in your mini-course and you want to show learners’ performance upon completion, you can use score cards.

For example, if you need to bring up a message like “You answered 3 out of 5 questions correctly.” as the final card, this is for you!

How to create and edit score cards?

Watch the video below for detailed information.

Is it possible to customize score cards?

Yes, you can change the message and add images/videos/PDFs/iframe HTML codes just as you can do in other card types. Watch the tutorial below.

Do you need a different formula to calculate the score? It is possible.

How to create your own formula in a score card?

To customize your score calculation formula, you can use the following variables in the editor.

  • {{Correct_Answers}}: Returns the number of correct answers.
  • {{Wrong_Answers}}: Returns the number of wrong answers.
  • {{Quiz_Questions}}: Returns the number of answerable questions.
  • {{Answerable_Questions}}: Returns the number of answerable questions.
  • {{Card_Count}}: Returns the number of all cards.
  • {{Total}}: Correct_Answers + Survey_Answers + Info_View

For Math Calculations: You can create your own formula with variables in square brackets.

For example, an accuracy ratio calculation:

[[{{Correct_Answers}} / {{Quiz_Questions}}] * 100]%

How to use Badge cards?

When to use Badge card?

If you want to award your learners with a badge at the end of your mini-course, you can do it by using the badge card.

Using a badge card in your mini-course, you can reward your learners with a proof of completion or success.

How to set up a Badge Card?

To add a badge card, click on “Add Card” on your mini-course editing screen. Then, under the completion cards category, choose “Badge” as your card type.

Choose one of our pre-designed badge styles, change the content and ribbon text to effortlessly personalize the badge.

Note: If none of the above works for you and you just want to eliminate the “congrats” animation at the end, you can use a standard completion card.

Note: If you’re using the default card layout, there’s a “related mini-courses” section at the end of your mini-course. Related mini-courses show all mini-courses in the same collection. If you’d like the other mini-courses of the same collection to not show at the end, check here.

To enlarge your community of learners, a good search engine optimization for your content is a must.

Here’s what you can do to get a better SEO score and increase traffic in your mini-courses or collections.

  • Turn on “Index to Google”

Index to Google should be turned on for your mini-course to show up on Google searches. It takes a few hours after this is turned on that Google starts to fetch sitemap data.

On your mini-course edit screen, click on “Settings” at the top right end of your mini-course and turn on “Index to Google” under SEO settings tab.

  • Write an SEO description for your mini-course

The description you write is added to head code as metadata, which helps to show up on searches.

On your mini-course edit screen, click on “Settings” at the top right end of your mini-course and add your description to the box under SEO settings tab.

  • Add your collection landing page/mini-course to Google Search Console

If you have added a custom domain to your account for your collection or mini-course, you can add your sub-domain to the Google Search Console to monitor and optimize your page’s presence in Google Search results.

🔹If you have a domain and have not yet set up a custom domain for your Mini Course Generator account, here’s how to set up a custom domain: Customizing Links with Custom Domain (CNAME)

After adding your domain or URL to Google Search Console and verifying your domain ownership, we suggest you to add the sitemap of your custom domain to Google Search Console.

Your sitemap URL is yourcustomdomain.com/sitemap.xml. For the sake of this article, we will use the domain academy.knowup.io and the sitemap academy.knowup.io/sitemap.xml.

The sitemap should include URLs for each mini-course in your collection in the urlset tag as shown in the image below. If there is any missing mini-course URL, check if “Index to Google” is turned on in your mini-course SEO settings. If your mini-courses are not indexed to Google, they won’t show up in Google searches.

👀 It can take a few days for your sitemap to include URLs to your mini-courses.

To add the sitemap to Google Search Console, click on “Sitemaps” on the left end of Google Search Console and submit your sitemap URL as shown below.

  • Add a Favicon

Although Favicons do not directly affect your SEO score, they have an indirect effect as they improve user experience.

Upload a Favicon under SEO tab in your mini-course settings and save your settings.

🚀 Pro Tip: You can add Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, email marketing services, social media services and many more using “Add header and body scripts” feature under advanced settings tab to track your learners’ activity. Get help from analytics and metrics to better market and develop your mini-courses.

As it is with all features of Mini Course Generator, optimizing your mini-courses for search engines is quick and easy. Reach lots of learners with your micro-learning content and generate leads with great practicality.
